Today's day was full. It started out with going with my friends to a leadership conference in Des Moines. We're all on student senate, and you know what?! It was the BEST leadership conference ever. I'm one of "those" people who find inspirational things like that inspiring, and I'm telling you the speaker was very inspiring.
Lammarr Womble was the Keynote speaker and the main speaker for the event. He talked about four things that we (as students) need to think about--which got me thinking!! I was thankful I got to go!
1. Do something you can do for free in your life.
2. What is your competitive advantage? --what do you do better than everyone else?
3. What is it in your heart that you want to do? Does this make you HAPPY, SAD, AND ANGRY- yes even the anger and saddness. This proves that you care so much about it!
4. Do what you love to do.
^all of these four things reminded me of how running is for me. To a T. It made me realize today that running is my passion. It truly is. I've learned that I've held back that passion for so long wondering what people would think of me. I don't like to brag or boast- and sharing this blog right now to me, my friends would think I was a little crazy. My RUNNING friends wouldn't though:) I realized that people are going to be jealous of your skill, they are not going to support it, they are going to try to bring you down, but of all of that, you need to stay true to your love for it. If you love it, ignore the haters. Haters are gonna hate:) Be confident in what you do and fight for it. After this conference, I was confident running is what I love and I'm going to admit I was a little hesitant these past months with a stress fracture and other life distractions, but I know, I know, that it's my passion now and I want to stay focused on it for so many good reasons.
I've also learned this year that certain people are going to come in your life for the worst. They really don't care about you and what you love- those people are those to get rid of. Only be around people who care and lift you up- not the ones that bring you down. If they're bringing you down, you are WAY better than them- don't let them control you.
I really reflected on my attitude today- and you should know, I pretty much take everything to heart. I thought about if I really want to be a successful person, I may have to stand out, and that's okay. That's what makes you da bomb diggity:) I'm sure now that running something I should chase after and become what I can become.
I was even retweeted AND favorited by Lammarr Wombie. I felt really special.. :) Let me have my moment of glory!
There won't be any running stories or workouts of the day this next week and weekend SADLY. I'm busy with dance team and the musical (I'm Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!) and I need time off since Cross Country just ended. Rest is key, folks.
